Spears Compendium Of Games
I received this one Christmas, it was THE gift of the year. Not just one board game but 4 big board games, peg games, Bingo , Tiddly-Winks and some word tile games.
The lovely vintage Snakes and Ladders board, some wonderful pictures on here , square 28 planting flowers and that lovely long ladder to square 84. Square 87 , no riding a bike with your hands off the handle bars , otherwise you end up back to square 24. This was one of my favourite games to play with my father, especially as when he lost he would fling the board across the room like a frisbee.
Ludo, possibly my all time favourite board game, can you get all your counters round the board and home without the opponent landing on your pieces and sending them back home. Loved this game as it had strategy and the chance to really annoy whoever you were playing against. A lovely colourful board.
Steeplechase the horse racing board game. Another beautiful illustrated board. A nice short-ish board game , that again could be fitted in before bed-time. A straight forward chase around the board.
A nice little Bingo game, came with number tiles, round ones if I recall correctly and also round number discs to cover up the numbers that you had called out. Strangely I used to quite like playing this by myself, using all the cards ( I was very young at the time).
